Brookfield Real Estate Services (Brookfield RES) is a multi-brand real estate franchisor and corporate brokerage operator, with a network that currently spans Canada, the U.S. and Portugal, and active plans for further global expansion.

Our business strategy is to continue to grow by expanding our REALTOR® network through organic agent recruitment and acquisitions, by improving agent retention rates and by increasing REALTOR® productivity. Our multi-brand strategy improves our reach into different market segments, broadening our opportunity for growth.

A strong, stable company, we are focused on and deeply immersed in the real estate sector, and have been a leading provider of real estate services in Canada since 1913. Through our Canadian brands, Royal LePage Real Estate Services, Johnston & Daniel and Via Capitale, we have approximately 22% of the Canadian residential real estate market based on transactional dollar volume. This makes us the Canadian real estate industry’s most successful consolidator of real estate brands.

During 2008 and 2009 - an economically difficult time - we continued to strengthen our brands and grow our business by making carefully selected acquisitions. In 2008, Brookfield RES acquired Quebec-based real estate franchise system Via Capitale, increasing our market share to 24% in that province. That same year we acquired U.S.-based GMAC Real Estate, a rare opportunity, allowing us to quickly establish a national footprint of leading regional brokerage firms. Then, in 2009, we acquired U.S.-based Real Living Network Services, an innovative real estate franchise network, adding almost 2,000 additional real estate professionals. 2010 will see the conversion of GMAC Real Estate franchisees to the Real Living brand, creating one of the largest real estate networks in the United States.

These acquisitions provided us with the opportunity to diversify and expand our geographic footprint, and leave us well positioned to maintain leadership in our traditional markets, and with exciting new growth opportunities on the horizon.
